George E. Simmons was born in Oakland, California.  He is a self taught artist and Poet, and although he has had no formal training, he has painted portraits and landscapes.

He enjoys drawing animals and people. He uses a variety of mediums, Oils, watercolors, acrylics, pen & ink, charcoal, Pastels, and does woodcarving, and sculpture. 

His subject matter includes Native Americans, portraits, still-life, domestic and wild animals, sport figures, landscapes and figure nudes.

His poems are internationally known and have been published in anthologies such as "Our Worlds Best Loved Poems" and "Theatre of the Mind" published in London, England, Nice, France and New York City.

He has had his own book of poems published, titled "TALKING LEAVES"
